Loosened and retied them with a slightly different knot placement and the pressure shifted away. The fabric itself never once felt restrictive. Just be ready to adjust the ties mid-event.

Hung it on a hanger overnight and by morning the shape had completely recovered. The spandex has excellent memory. I'd suggest hanging immediately after wear rather than leaving it crumpled to help it bounce back faster.
